I love Conqueterre. The kids and I had visited it years earlier and always wanted to come back. We scored a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Airbnb on the cliffs of Manarola, with a small gym in the wine cellar. The location could not be beat.

08:00 Best of the Cinque Terre and cove swimming

Cinque Terre is roughly translated as the 5 villages. I think it is the best of them and would encourage you to visit or stay here if you have the time. We had originally planned on hiking the Cinqueterre trail on 8/15, but it was closed because of the threat of rain. Instead, we went to the picturesque cove to swim and sunbathe. This town has cute shops and cafes.

We had originally planned to hike here. Instead took the train from Manarola, which is very easy to do. The beach club has lounge chairs for rent, changing facilities, and a full bar. Laura and I had Aperol Spritz and enjoyed swimming in the sea.

08:00 Beautiful cliffside hike from Corniglia to Monterosso

HOT! HOT! HOT! in August. I was aware it would be hot and encouraged the teens to leave early. Even still we were so thankful when we stumbled across a bar on the side of the trail serving fresh homemade lemonade. To do this hike, you will need to pay a park fee or obtain the Cinque Terre card. At the time that we hiked this, the trail from Manarola to Cornigilia was closed. we took the train to Cornigilia, which is quite easy to do.

This was my kids' favorite thing that we did in Italy (along with truffle hunting). We loved it so much that we bought our own pasta maker! It felt authentic cooking in a real Italian kitchen.

I did not pre-book this cab - just luck. We ordered a cab back to the Ponte Vecchio and this wild-looking, colorful cab stopped in front of us with music blaring and disco lights flashing. We hop in for the most fun in a cab ever! Caterina had fun costumes and we were jamming out to the Black Eyed Peas and other hits.
